Canning Stock Route Trip 31 July till 31 August
Duration: Approximately 4 weeks
Route: North to South (Billiluna to Wiluna)

The Cockburn 4WD Club is planning a challenging and remote expedition along the Canning Stock Route, one of the most iconic and isolated 4WD tracks in Australia. This trip is scheduled for 31 July to 18 August 2026, subject to track accessibility. If the Canning remains closed, the trip will be deferred to 2027.
We will meet in Billiluna on the 31 July 12 o'clock we estimate the CSR to take 14 to 15 days and a 3 day trip home. So the expected end of the trip 18 August.

Strict limit of 10 vehicles

First-come, first-served basis for confirmed spots and the waiting list

Eligibility: Open to full touring members only (must have completed at least one club day trip and one weekend trip)

Permit fee: $295 AUD per vehicle (permits are non-refundable)

No trailers allowed under any circumstances
Vehicle & Equipment Requirements:

Minimum 1,000 km off-road fuel range – expect increased consumption due to dune travel

Adequate water supply for extended remote travel

Self-sufficient camping and recovery gear required
-
Personal Locator Beacon (PLB) strongly recommended

Medical supplies for personal use – a designated medical support vehicle will be included

Spare parts specific to your vehicle must be carried
-
Radiator protection recommended due to spinifex build-up; also bring tools to remove spinifex from underbody and radiator areas

Each vehicle must carry 4 MAXTRAX (or equivalent recovery boards)

Fuel in remote communities is not guaranteed – assume you may need to wait for resupply

No children permitted – this trip is not suitable due to its remote and demanding nature
