Goczel Track

Goczel Track – including a rediscovery of Moorowing Rock.

For more than 120 years there has been doubt over the location of Moorowing Well at Moorowing Rock, north of Bullabulling. It was confused with Caenyie Rock.

After recent resolution of the issue of the correct location of the rock there remains only the task of finding the well.

The Moorowing trip will morph into a challenging attempt to follow the track of Government Geologist Stephen Goczel when, in 1897, he prospected his way from Goongarrie to Cue. For the most part his track has disappeared and, today, it is difficult to follow.

To help us with the search we will be joined by veteran bush historian Phil Bianchi, well known prospector and Kalgoorlie identity, Scott Wilson, and renowned bushman, Alan McCall (aka Equinox on a number of forums and Outback Yonder on YT).

The Road Trip meeting place is at Bullabulling on Friday 30 May 2025 before commencing the actual search for Moorowing Well on Saturday. The Goczel Track Retracement finishes at Cue on 6 June 2025.
